Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
